Bump Summary from a Catalog
BUMP IN THE NIGHT by Edward Hemingway, illustrated by Edward Hemingway, Putnam, 06/08
Billy's dreams of the fun he'll have with his teddy and dog the next day are interrupted by a bump in the night. He is a little scared; worrying about ghoulies and ghosties and long-leggedy beasties, but the last monster that appears in his room isn't scary at all. He's a yo-yo using, horseback-riding, ghoulie-scaring, beastie-ropin' monster who's perfect to take on adventures (and he's sensitive - he gives Billy his teddy back when Billy cries). ($15.99 US; $19.00 CAN; 8½ x 9½; 32 pages; Ages 3-5)
Selling Points:
* Literary pedigree: Eddie is Ernest Hemingway's grandson.
* Positive twist on classic fear: Encourages kids to have fun with their imagination and make friends with your monsters!
* There's a Nightmare in my Closet mixed with Where the Wild Things Are: Plays with kids imaginary fears and adventures in similar ways.
* Author's Profile: Eddie Hemingway has a Bachelors degree from the Rhode Island School of Design and Masters from The School of Visual Arts. His illustrations have appeared in Nickelodeon Magazine, GQ, Gourmet, The New York Times and more.
